From 1st May we will be asking our patients to give us a brief idea of their symptoms when they are booking appointments - this is confidential and is to enable us to  ensure patients see the most appropriate healthcare person to meet their needs

Notification - Dr Chris Mair will be leaving the Practice at the end of June to concentrate on his work as Training Programme Director for Forth Valley and GP Lead within Out of Hours.  Dr Stephen Beattie will be joining the team as GP Partner from the beginning of July.

Summer 2018 Newsletter now available!

Bridge of Allan Health Centre has been accredited as a Training Practice, coaching GPs of the future.

Dr Chris Mair and Dr Niamh Mullins are the designated GP Trainers but all doctors in the Practice have a significant role to play in training our assigned doctors.  The doctors are supervised throughout their journey with us and in addition to the doctors being assessed, the Practice is also inspected periodically.

The doctors join us for an extended period of time:

FY2 (Foundation year) - 4 months
ST1 (Specialist GPs in their 1st year) - 6 months
ST3 (Specialist GPs in their 3rd year) - minimum 12 months

ST3 Dr Elle D'Arcy has joined us from August 2016 to June 2018

ST3 Dr Emily Arthurs has joined us from February 2017 to March 2019

.....the Practice benefits from the doctors experience, having worked in alternative medical environments prior to joining us.  In addition, we are able to offer additional appointments and choice of doctor during their time with us.

As part of the doctors' training programme they have to video a certain number of consultations for assessment. You will always be asked in advance for consent.

Training Programme Director for Forth Valley

Dr Mair is also the Programme Director for Forth Valley and is responsible for overseeing all doctors involved in specialist training during their 4 year course.  This includes seeing the trainees in their hospital posts as well as GP posts.  This is a significant commitment for Dr Mair and the Practice but essential for the future provision of GP services within local Practices.
